On the 2017 occasion, more than 150’000 visitors and 1’150 exhibitors from Europe, Asia, North- and South-America descended on Cologne.

At this year’s imm cologne, Minotti presented its most recent, trend-inspired products. Ample space was dedicated to the strongly original Indiana, Virginia and Aston Cord sets.

With this new product range, Minotti, guided by its famed artistic director Rodolfo Dordoni, conveys an extraordinary innovative vitality. Not surprisingly, these creations offer a blissful comfort and are a delight for the eyes.

Its secondary façade faces West Nanjing Road, one of the main commercial streets in Shanghai. The total available exhibition surface is estimated at 4’000 square meters.

With its city-wide exhibitions, parties and packed streets, this year’s Salone was more of a festival and cultural event than a conventional trade fair.

The Milan design week was by no means limited to the exhibits in the Salone fair halls in Rho. All over the city of Milan, from Tortona and Brera to the Cinque Vie district – designers and producers presented their latest creations.

The main event at the Rho fairgrounds spanned over two million square meters, housed more than 2′400 exhibitors and accommodated over 370’000 visitors. It is now the world’s largest furnishing fair and certainly the most important international design showcase. Among the key components of this year’s event  were: the International Bathroom Exhibition, the International Kitchen Exhibition, and the SaloneSatellite, which focuses on young designers who work on forward thinking concepts.

Pictured above is the Minotti exhibit in Rho. The mood here was buoyant throughout the week-long event.

The Salone Satellite this year featured many emerging talents from around the world. Whether it was with a “magic” bookshelf, sustainably sourced alpaca furniture, or a light that syncs with your heartbeat, Satellite designers didn’t fail to astonish and delight. It is not surprising that trend hunters and industry managers descended frequently on the Salone Satellite to spot serious new talents.

Rossana Orlandi, the Grande Dame of every Milan design week, unveiled, in her fascinating cabinet of curiosities in Via Matteo Bandello, a selection of extraordinary furniture and lighting pieces by famed designers Patricia Urquiola, Georg Jensen, and Achille Castiglioni as well as brass creations produced by the Ghedini foundry and designed by Nika Zupanc, Richard Hutten and the Campana Brothers. As always at Spazio Rossana Orlandi: a fresh and beautiful collection.

Exhibitors tend to launch only a small number of new items at the imm, saving their complete collections for the unveiling, a few months ahead, at the Milan Salone.

At this year’s imm, Minotti mainly presented its 2015 collection, introducing a new two-seater Leslie sofa, designed by the Company’s internationally acclaimed Artistic Director, Rodolfo Dordoni.

Mr Antonio Marelli, the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia commented “We had really good business days at the imm this year. As exhibitors we were very pleased with the level and quality of contacts that we could establish. It was a brilliant experience from start to finish. We had the opportunity to meet some  of our Asian retailers here and we were also able to engage with numerous new customers”  Concluding, he added  ”I believe that the Cologne imm, if it maintains its current policies, will go from strength to strength”.

The 2014 Milan Furniture Exhibition broke all records

Categories: Exhibitions, News

The 2014 Milan International Furniture Exhibition closed on Sunday April 13. Show attendance was up nearly 10% over last year. With 357’212 visitors counted at the Rho fairgrounds and 360’000 people estimated attending the hundreds of offsite exhibits and events in the city of Milan, it has proven to be the largest, liveliest and most successful show of its kind in the world. Visitors came from 160 countries to see new products presented by some 2’400 exhibitors.

Thousands of buyers from around the planet signed off purchase orders that produced a gross 20% increase in sales volume compared to last year. In the context of the European economy, which is still not doing much better than before the current crisis, this is a most encouraging result. “The market is big and growing for those who have a strong brand” said Mr. Claudio Luti, the owner of Kartell and President of Cosmit Spa, the company that organizes the Milan Exhibition.

Minotti’s products always prove to be very appealing to visitors at the Milan fair. The 2014 collection, directed by Rodolfo Dordoni, again expressed the company’s mastery of design and its manufacturing prowess. The keen interest shown by the public confirms that Minotti is well tuned to the market’s demands.
“It seems there are no boundaries to the development of Minotti’s business right now” commented Mr. Antonio Marelli, the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia.

The Salone, as the Milan Furniture Exhibition is also called, always spills over from the Rho fairgrounds into hundreds of offsite locations and events in Milan. This is the territory of experimental, provocative and avant-garde design. There is a lot of trail blazing, a lot of things that are new and novel to us in the offsite districts of Brera, Porta Venezia, Via Tortona and Via Forcella. This is where Milan has created spaces for the creative people who are out to do something different, to break the mould and inject a new artistic breath into the world. Italian design maven Rossana Orlandi is a long-standing and faithful protagonist of Milan’s offsite world. She is appreciated as a torch-bearer and prime mover. She is also sought out for her ability to spot new creative talent. Crowds of connoisseurs flocked to her renowned exhibition space, the Spazio Rossana Orlandi in Milan’s Magenta district, where this year new works by designers Scholten & Baijings, Aldo Bakker, Bojka and Luca Nichetto were presented.
