The new Minotti/Sukeno showroom in Tokyo-Aoyama is off to a flying start

Categories: Events

Minotti, together with its long-standing business partner in Japan, Mr Tadao Sukeno, last week opened the doors of its new flagship showroom located in Tokyo’s historical design district of Aoyama. The characterful and elegant exhibition space, covering an area of 450m2 over two floors, is the third Minotti/Sukeno showroom in Tokyo.

It is now 15 years that Minotti collaborates admirably with Mr Tadao Sukeno, with his distinguished family and with his highly professional staff. As we expect to observe sales edging up with the new showroom configuration, we should also see revenue in Japan improve.

The 2017 preview collection has just recently been unveiled in Tokyo and this was reason enough to celebrate. Invitations were duly sent out. 400 guests came.

On two consecutive evenings last week, the new Aoyama showroom morphed into a perfect party venue. Invited guests, mainly clients, architects, designers, interior decorators, project managers and members of the Tokyo press, flocked to the new Minotti/Sukeno site, where they could join Mr Roberto Minotti and Mr Renato Minotti, the Managing Directors of the eponymous company, as well as some of the younger generation of Executives: Ms Susanna Minotti and Mr Alessandro Minotti. Also present were Mr Antonio Marelli, the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia and Mr Luca Molinari of the Minotti Design Studio, who brilliantly planned and supervised the development of the new Minotti/Sukeno showroom in Aoyama.

While at the Aoyama party, Mr Antonio Marelli said: “Without some real fun now and then, horizons shrink and ambition dwindles. That is why we are here on this occasion: to celebrate the zest, enthusiasm and creativity which are our hallmark and which keep us up front”.

Minotti’s much anticipated 2017 collection was launched at this year’s Milan Salone

Minotti’s spacious exhibit at the 2017 Salone stood out prominently among the 2000 plus stands from over 160 countries that were present at this year’s Milan event.

Beyond the vast Trade Fair buildings in Rho, this 56th edition of the Milan Furnishing Exhibition spanned the city of Milan with hundreds of collateral events, exhibits, shows, talks, receptions and presentations.

Minotti is well aware of the fundamental importance of the Salone and feels that, more than ever, the numerous visitors attracted to this unique event are not only the most sophisticated and influential but also the most sensitive and critical that can be found anywhere in the world.

Design that sparks exciting changes, as displayed in Milan, has now even led companies such as Apple, Nike and Ikea to participate actively in the Salone and to put forward their own original ideas and fertile proposals.

Architect and Minotti Design Director Rodolfo Dordoni again challenged himself to produce the 2017 collection. He succeeded brilliantly in creating an inimitable set of fresh new pieces, which are clear, elegant and contextually sensitive.

“We are looking ahead in 2017 with intense optimism, thanks to our impressive new collection and our strong international sales organisation”  commented Mr Antonio Marelli, the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia.

Minotti management team visits the Sukeno sales organisation in Tokyo

Pursuant to its business meetings in Shanghai, the Minotti top management team from Italy left for Tokyo, where it was received on the 22nd of November by members of the Sukeno family in their Court showroom, located in the fashionable and extremely enjoyable district of Tokyo-Aoyama.

After an extended meeting, from which the favorable business climate for Minotti products in Japan emerged, the tables were set for an animated cocktail reception. Among the guests were Tokyo-based architects, interior decorators and developers as well as the representatives of three publications: Elle Decor, Modern Living and I’m Home, all of which Mr Tadao Sukeno patronises for publicity and  brand promotion purposes.

Conversations were intense, namely about the fact that a more vigorous exploitation of the current Japanese market might well produce a significant growth in Minotti sales. It could well be worth doing some strategising as to how exactly sales in this promising market could grow further.

The Sukenos’  guest receptions are always exquisite occasions that are shared, cultivated and remembered with warmth.

Held on Saturday 19th November, in Minotti’s magnificent circular showroom in Shanghai, one year after the building’s completion, the cocktail party developed into a great social gathering with Susanna, Renato and Roberto Minotti, who had all flown in to participate in the first Milan Salone Trade Show in Shanghai, Mr Paolo Nardini, Minotti General Sales Manager,  Mr Antonio Marelli, the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia,  and, last not least, Sammy and Cathy Zhan, the Domus Tiandi managers of the Shanghai sales operation.

The event attracted over 50 major Italian furnishing and lighting brands and many thousands of Chinese visitors from public and private sectors, including residential, commercial, institutional, hospitality, local authorities, architecture, project management and development.

Minotti’s high-end 2016 collection was on display and was much appreciated by the public. Owing to the rather limited (100-150 m2) floor space allocated to Minotti and other exhibitors, the Shanghai representative organised a shuttle service to the Minotti showroom in Shanghai, allowing guests to view and better appreciate the current collection.  We hope that the issue of inadequate space for exhibitors will be resolved by next year’s show.

This debut of Minotti as exhibitor at the Shanghai Salone led on all days to a very busy show floor at the company’s stand. Numerous visitors came from China and other Asiatic countries and many were interested in acting as distributors or dealers. The feedback from the many contacts made was overwhelmingly positive and many new business relations were forged. The presence of Chinese television and other media was very impressive.

Following in the tradition of the Milan Salone, the program included Master Classes, devoted to key issues in architecture and design and featuring leading representatives of the Italian design world as coaches. It also comprised a Salone Satellite dedicated to  up-and-coming young Chinese design talents.

After a year of thriving business, the Sukeno family and its distinguished head, Mr Tadao Sukeno, were delighted to receive close to three hundred guests at the recent celebration of Minotti’s 2016 collection. This new collection, which launched at this year’s Milan Salone, is now on display at the elegant Sukeno Court showroom in Tokyo-Aoyama.

On the occasion, Mr Sukeno created a lounge space for the numerous invited guests, among whom were famed professionals, architects, interior designers, project managers and decorators.  The lounge space provided visitors with an inspiring environment for networking, sharing ideas and expressing new insights.

Guests were captivated by Minotti’s new Freeman  sofa, by the indoor/outdoor furnishing sets and by the creative usage of new materials, patterns and colour accents. They particularly appreciated the Conde, Duvet and Tailor sets and pointed out the business potential of hospitality furnishings and the many possibilities offered by the Lifescape set. A suggestion was voiced, which proposed the application of Minotti furniture to public outfitting  projects in Japan.

“Our newest collection will no doubt meet the needs and expectations of our clients in Japan” observed Mr Antonio Marelli, adding ” In this country, Minotti has built up a unique pool of expertise around the talent and energy of the Sukeno family and their staff. They together fulfill the projects of our customers with passion, understanding and high professional commitment”.

To celebrate the opening of their new Shanghai showroom, Minotti / Domus Tiandi organised a launch party to meet with clients, prospects, architects, interior decorators, project managers and local media representatives.

Amid the guests of honour were Messrs Renato, Roberto and Alessandro Minotti, who represented the company ownership, Mr Paolo Nardini, the  General Sales Manager and Mr Roberto Painao, the Contract Manager. Moie presents the 2015 Minotti collection in Jakarta

Categories: Events

October 22 last was “Minotti Collection Day” at the Moie showroom in Jakarta. The event was related to the presentation of key pieces of Minotti’s 2015 collection. Friends of Minotti, architects, interior decorators, project managers and select members of the press attended. They discovered for themselves the many special aspects of this new collection .

This year, Minotti’s farsighted Artistic Director, Rodolfo Dordoni, has brought into his creations a new concept of softness and roundness that expresses a unique sense of comfort. Pieces on show convinced visitors by this new grammar of form combined with vivacious colours and new material patterns. The results are beautiful, atmospheric and relaxed.

The members of the Moie sales team have been struck by the positive echo that the Seymour, Yang and Leslie products evoked in their country. The sales results achieved in Indonesia, after the 2015 Milan Salone and before even a single piece of the collection had physically reached Jakarta, are no doubt a result of the team’s strong professionalism. Their sales competence is, in fact, impressive. With unfailing determination they got into the business of selling the new collection to responsive clients  and they succeeded.

Nevertheless the new Minotti collection wasn’t the only reason for excitement on October 22nd. Moie’s animated cocktail party, with its live musical background, was the social culmination of the day.

“Worldwide, Minotti’s sales are growing admirably. But success is uneven over different regions”  commented Mr. Antonio Marelli,  the Minotti Resident Area Manager for Asia, adding: “Indonesia, however, is a bustling market and we have in Moie an excellent local team working on it, so that we can expect sales to continue to rise here.”
